Viking Summer at Skansin

14 - 29 July: Experience living history at Skansin, Tórshavn
Every day from 13.00 - 17.00 pm.

This Summer you can travel back in time and get in touch with history and culture. We are looking forward to open up various exciting activities by the lighthouse at Skansin in Tórshavn - you can experience workshops for children, puppet theater, fighters, handcrafts and much more. Welcome!

The sea and the ships were a cornerstone of the Viking life, and nothing is therefore more natural than having a small event just by the harbour, which was of course very important in the Viking age.

The Viking Summer at Skansen emphasizes some aspects of the Viking life just as it could have taken place at the port of Tórshavn with trade, life and activites as well as the view to the ships.

Puppet Show, workshops & activites, fight shows and trading

Besides the authentic dissemination, the market offers the opportunity to watch our "Roykstovusøgur" puppet show about the Fenris wolf - read more and see the puppets here.

Are you into crafts? Get creative with various workshops like tin casting and pearl making - and learn about different crafts, e.g. skin tanning.

Furthermore there will be the opportunity to see some real action when warriours from the Berserk fight group get into battle with swords, axes and shields forged from findings in the VIking Age. Finally, you can trade, and maybe find the thing that you just cannot live without.

Here is the programme of scheduled activities.

Opening Hours: 14 - 29 July from 13.00 - 17.00 pm.
